I loved this!! It really resonated with me and made me want to go back and watch the master Sagan again. May we all find things that support our mental well being like this did for you!
Very cool. A good friend of mine went to Cornell and at one point lived a few doors down from Dr. Sagan. We saw him a few times in town when I’d go visit. I also had my mind blown as a youngster by Cosmos, and I remember seeing Dr. Sagan on campus and being like, “whoa…that’s Carl Sagan. He TEACHES here?” We had no such luminaries at my school.
I used to love this stuff and deep philosophy spiritual stuff...now kinda jaded with a bad experience with a spiritual group.....now anxiety has made this feel dangerous to me...It used to support me greatly....It's hard for me to trust.
Loved this episode (Sat morning in London, playing catch-up), beautifully articulated! And always nice seeing the more profound, ethereal side of Drew😁 Hadn’t heard of Dr Sagan’s Cosmos, must watch it! Reminds me a bit how I felt a over decade ago, reading Bill Bryson’s ‘A Short History of Nearly Everything’ which wonderfully summarised the history of the entire universe including the human evolution neatly into a 600 page volume, perfectly & simply described for my very non-scientific brain. I also read Neale Donald Walsch’s ‘Conversations with God’ series (a different perspective on God & the universe, something I needed to hear to balance out my thinking, having been brought up in a limiting, radically strict Christian environment). Great reading everyone’s comment below, looks like this episode went down a treat. A wonderfully thought-provoking way to start the weekend, thanks Drew!
This is simply wonderful! Thanks for sharing Drew. It’s always good to find a way to settle our busy minds with some grounding in the reality of our existence. The simplification helps so very much especially when we are trying to run around and control everything.
Thanks for sharing this clip (not seen the series), very profound!! How beautifully described by her character. Loved the ‘drop of water in the ocean’ analogy too💚🙏🏼
This episode had it all. I was touched by Sagan's words as well, and also by how it impactful it was through the years. There is mega powerful medicine when you mention how THINKING on it brings you out of the obsessive fear-based thoughts and feelings. This is why there is so much emphasis placed on THINKING-based activities whenever you are caught-up in anxious, panicked, or OCD thoughts. THINKING may not feel like a good solution in the moment, but it moves you away, maybe the smallest iota, from the feeling (often negative) parts of your brain. My hope is that by constantly directing my attention towards thinking vs feeling I will be less susceptible to being caught-up in the mire of anxiety, panic, and OCD. Be well out there! Ah!!! I’m so glad I read this today!! Carl Sagan impacted my life so beautifully. Thank you for sharing this, Drew.
Very mind opening and sooo true. This reminded me of this scene. It's so peaceful and calming... https://youtu.be/L-EUAP5_4po

I just realized why I was having panic attacks in a class on Existentialism way back when! Thanks for this great Anxious Morning, Drew! Great one!

I was just 19, major impact on me too. Every single person I knew watched Cosmos, Carl Sagan brought a lot of profoundness.
Way to go creating such relevant content everyday Drew. Bravo! This was a really nice insight. Thanks for all you do
Thank you for sharing this beautiful perspective and sharing some peace today!
I love that. It does give you a touch base moment. It lets you know that “mother is home.”
