Loved loved this👌🏼 One of my favourites thus far… elementary but oh so essential. Had a key moment this week when my flat electrical circuit faulted (then flipping the trip switch didn’t correct it) which would usually cause a total meltdown of helplessness & assumed financial disaster etc. After later listening to this episode I was chuffed to recall that, wait, after the first minute (or maybe 5😁) of minor panic, I took pause, considered my options and took some logical actions. What’s even better is the issue’s still not fixed days later, but I’m still calm and in control. Sounds ridiculous right, but that’s a lifelong reversal there against automatic, knee-jerk, doomsday responses. As Drew/Dr B says… this choice & power (in the moment) = change and progress (ultimately). So I’m going to remember to give myself a break, don’t try to squash & extinguish any auto-responses… then once that first minute or two is done, calm down and choose. Thank you - thus one’s on ‘speed dial’!
Oh yes, Drew!! This one was needed. This was like the little piece of the Drew puzzle that made it connect seamlessly to my knowledge and experiences. Didn't you mention this before or did I just not watch that particular episode? This is why the anxious morning is such an important format. Watching every episode is a daunting task but everybody has time for the anxious morning.
To me, the sudden absolute and total panic onset peak leaves you without any options but running or fighting. You can't think. There's not option. The options come when that peak has gone down from 100 to maybe 90 percent. Or as you put it: a minute. I didn't think we saw eye to eye on that but apparently we do? So happy 😊
I absolutely am so happy to have found your website. It has changed my way of viewing so many things. Oh, how I wish I had all your techniques when my anxiety and panic began, which was in the 70's. Thank you.....................Dr. Claire Weekes book was my go to in my early years. I now have your books by my side and view "The Anxious Morning" We are a family of experience...........................
Thanks Drew again. Tuesday I had a trip to a grand old building, but the garden was built on a very steep curve
We had a tram ride down to the lake which scared the pants off me
I was shaking when I got off, but then I was able to calm realising the trip back had to be better as it was all uphill. I enjoyed the trip back, and the whole day then.
