This links really well into recent Episode 203 (‘Just Do It’) which I got a lot of meaning out of, and it cemented the understanding that we are complex human beings with complex backgrounds, circumstances and triggers. But I’ve also put that alongside the other thinking-approach which Drew, and many others who write anxiety disorder (incl. Anxiety Josh) - which helpfully reasons that sometimes our own personal understanding of, and thus approach to dealing with, anxiety can often be narrowed down. An ‘umbrella’ term to simplify & uncomplicate the huge/confusing monster in our minds, to a single manageable and overcome-able issue. That it’s essentially the same root cause demon we’re all dealing with, even if all the triggers, triggering circumstances and resulting responses can be different. Understanding this for me was a light bulb moment and hugely helped me on the start of my recovery journey. Thanks for articulating Drew, in your usual straight-up, no-nonsense, at times self-deprecating way, I appreciate you explaining this even though you are not yourself a therapist and have never claimed to be, tho I’m sure there are many there in US who will be looking forward to the day when you will be.

Finding a therapist who can actually handle anxiety disorder is rare. Also it’s not in a vacuum but in the midst of other life issues.

I don't understand why you are saying all of this, your true motivation, because in the words that you use to describe coaches and the like, I keep seeing you and that I have read that you have written. You have regularly said that anxiety isn't 'special', which in turn could make the person's experiences feel invalidated, you have often not acknowledged people's complexities and reduced the response to anxiety and panic down to surrendering through exposure. You have repeated the same thing again and again. You have advised people on the basis of your experience that from what you have said before could be interpreted as textbook but not complicated. Are you undermining your own advice and guidance now? People have looked up to you as an expert with lived experience, even though you have said you aren't qualified, you have acted as if you were. You have been firm with your advice. You have taken no prisoners. Why should anyone believe in what you say then? Have faith in you? Just because you have had some experience of anxiety and agoraphobia? When you appear to be writing about yourself here. And if anyone has dared to challenge you, you delete them, and silence them. Just as you will this post.
