Oh man, someone on the page was going down this path and I just had to say something…but yeah, it was basically this….Trying to escape anxiety with certain methods. I tried to point them in the right direction….but I-know the moderators are the ones that are supposed to do this…..couldn’t not say any thing.😬😬😬
Are there those who believe that their anxiety comes from actual physical problems with their body? That is, just as you might treat diabetes with medication, you could also treat anxiety with medication? The problem might be to find the right medication. Year from now, will doctors look back and say, “it’s terrible that we expected these anxiety ridden patients to ‘treat themselves’ just by mustering through their difficulties. I see it as I sometimes see what doctors will think of chemotherapy 100 years from now. What is different in the DNA of a person with anxiety as opposed to a person who does not have anxiety problems? These question never leave me. In the meantime we are left to traumatize ourselves into wellness.
You are free to treat your anxiety in any way you wish. If for you that means conceptualizing it as a medical or biological issue that requires chemical or other similar intervention, you are 100% free to do that and I respect that choice. I will point out that there is quite a bit of real world data that shows us that what you call "traumatizing your way to wellness" (which I WILL dispute) is quite effective when compared to the best chemical interventions we've come up with in the last 50 years. The only other retort I will offer is that we will almost certainly know more in 100 years than we do now, but we have a nasty habit in medicine and especially pharmaceuticals of pretending that we know all of that NOW, which we do not. Rarely do those folks actually say that. That is a problem and that leads to real trauma when people wind up poly-medicated for years because we insist on pretending that we're experts when in reality we are beginners.
Thanks Drew, as you and everyone else on here says this IS hard but if it’s the way out I WANT it so I’ll DO it. I think I’m getting better at it and the extremely fearful days are lessening a bit.
Never accept defeat, never give up, never surrender. Those mantras were ingrained in me my entire life. It’s so ironic now that I’m learning true courage takes accepting and surrendering. Not attacking and fighting! When it comes to anxiety, if you fight, you lose. When you try to control it, it controls you! I’m realizing that letting go is the ONLY way to go! Thanks Drew!
Always spot on Drew! The only way out is through we must feel, allow and accept every uncomfortale feeling, thought and sensation in order to move forward. Oh how I wish there was an easier or magical way, but you know what? It does get easier the more you do these things! You see and feel progress and one day you are smiling again and doing things you enjoy. Keep growing and moving forward no matter how challenging. As always, Love you Big Guy.
I know I still rely on diazepam in very difficult circumstances but your method is slowly helping me to get better without as much. I hope to be able to do life without eventually, but I am doing my little steps towards it. Thanks Drew again.

Excellent information!

Unfortunately, we have to do it the hard way but, at the end, recovery will arrive. The other path ( avoidance, soothing, escape) is an ilusión.
Thank you Drew 🙏🏻, good week for everyone ❤️
